ESL STRUCTURE COURSES
STRUCTURE LEVEL IThis course focuses on listening for detail and note-taking. It is designed for in depth grammar instruction. It incorporates a general review of basic grammar and the study of tenses and adverb clauses of time.
Students will be able to speak and write fluently at a low advanced level of English proficiency with a clear understanding of the following grammar structures:
• Coordinating conjunctions
• Adverb clauses
• Reduction of adverb clauses to modifying adverbial phrases
• Connectives that express: cause and effect, contrast, condition
• Verb Tenses
• Verb Aspects and Time Frames
• Subject-Verb Agreement
• Passive Verbs
• Article Usage
• Modal Perfect Verbs
STRUCTURE LEVEL II
Students are expected to utilize advanced English communication skills in listening, speaking, and writing in preparation for high school matriculation.
Students will be able to speak and write fluently at an advanced level of English proficiency with a clear understanding of the following grammar structures:
• Subject/verb agreement
• Nouns
• Pronouns
• Modals
• Passives
STRUCTURE LEVEL III
Students are expected to utilize advanced English communication skills in listening, speaking, and writing in preparation for high school matriculation.
Students will be able to speak and write fluently at an advanced level of English proficiency with a clear understanding of the following grammar structures:
• Noun clauses
• Adjective clauses
• Gerunds and infinitives
• Coordinating conjunctions
• Adverb clauses
• Reduction of adverb clauses to modifying adverbial phrases
• Connectives that express: cause and effect, contrast, condition
